It has been a while since I have heard a track that makes me want to run to my closet, put on some jeans, grab my biggest hoodie, walk out of my house, and walk down my street like I am about to start a revolution. The puppet masters behind my need to get “street”, are none other than rap’s lyrical technician Jadakiss, and super producer Swizz Beatz.
The powerhouse duo of Jadakiss and Swizz Beatz have pulled all the stops on the soon to be hard hitting street anthem for hoods everywhere – ‘Jason”. Both the track and video are gritty and dark, skillful visualized by director Clifton Bell, in black and white against a backdrop of revolt and anger. The video also touches on a the topic of police brutality against black men that has plagued America.
I can’t say enough good things about this song, as it takes me back to a time where rap was full of emotion and grit. I am expecting big things from the next Jada album rightfully titled “Top 5, Dead or Alive.”
