It seems that the once inseparable bond between Lil Wayne and his one time father figure Birdman, which has over the last year, become no longer, will suffer a further break with the new filing of court documents by Lil Wayne in his lawsuit against the Cash Money CEO.
The documents obtained by the celebrity gossip online publication TMZ, claims that Lil Wayne has in his possession letters from Drake’s, Tyga’s, and Nicki Minaj’s respective teams and representatives that each of them were not compensated properly as per their contracts and agreements that each respective artists had with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Label’s parent company Cash Money.
The document continues by explaining that Young Money was suppose to receive $100 million advance from Universal Music Group, which Cash Money signed a publishing and distribution deal with in 1998. However, the money went directly to Cash money and Lil Wayne’s label did not see any of it.
Cash money has been quick to respond to these allegations by sharing that, they gave Lil Wayne a $20 million advance in 2012 plus an additional $12 million for his solo album. They say they also gave him $70 million for the Young Money roster’s advances, royalties, marketing and recording costs.
Lil Wayne has been very vocal over twitter that he has not been happy with Cash Money has has repeatedly said that in addition to himself leaving the Cash Money Label, he would also take Drake and Nicki Minaj with him.
