I may be biased, but as a Canadian, I have always been proud of the way that Canada’s musical artists have set themselves apart with an eclectic and original approach to hip hop and r&b, that is a direct result of our multi-cultural make up. International superstars such as Somali born, Canadian poet, rapper, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist K’naan, Toronto born rapper/producer/singer/songwriter k-os, and Nova Scotia’s own Buck 65, have blessed stages worldwide, and their and reach extends far beyond fans of just hip hop.
Although not from Canada, the artistry and understated “coolness” of Atlanta born rapper/singer/songwriter Raury makes him a definite candidate for this elite group,as he has even the hardest to impress music fans/critics, anxiously waiting to hear the full extent of his musical offerings. Raury, released his first mixtape “Indigo Child” in 2014, and from the mixtape alone, he signed was offered a deal with Columbia record in the same year.
At the ripe old age of 19, Raury has already shared the stage with legendary artist such as the inspirational Lauren Hill, and Outkast. Raury has also been chosen as part of XXL Magazine’s prestigious 2015 Freshman Class, and has been lighting up crowds everywhere.
If you don’t know Raury yet, get off your ass and get educated here. If you are lucky enough to be in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, September 12, you can catch him at the the Sixth annual ONE Musicfest!
