Pusha T: Taking the helm of G.O.O.D Music

Virginia Beach native Terrence Thornton,  better known by as Pusha T, is one half of the powerhouse hip hop duo Clipse, formed with his brother  Gene “No Malice” Thornton.  As both the Clipse and in his solo career, Pusha has amassed a number of hits and certified hip hop classic albums.  After signing with Kanye’s G.O.O.D Music Label, Pusha has maintained his elite status despite his gritty underground style.

Pusha’s stock in the music industry continues to rise as he was recently name president of the G.O.O.D Music Label he was once an elite artists.  The four month process to become president of G.O.O.D Music was initiated by Kanye West himself and Pusha had this to share about the honor:

“‘Ye had called me and he was like, ‘Tell me something. What do you think about being the president of G.O.O.D. Music?'”  “And I was like, ‘Well, what are the things that you’re looking for?’ And he was basically just like, to manicure the label, make it profitable and be very business-oriented about it going forward in a manicured type of way.”

Now as the president of the Def Jam sub label, he now oversees the music of one time label mates Big Sean, John Legend, Q-Tip, Teyana Taylor, Kacy Hill and Holt.  Pusha T says that he and West have been able to expand the company further than music through projects such as creative company DONDA. He wants to encourage the other artists on the G.O.O.D. Music roster to further their brands beyond music as well.

Don’t think for a second that he has stopped making music, Pusha, says that fans can expect his own album, King Push, by the end of the year. Lets see what if Pusha can channel his hustler ways into slinging hot records.
