Minnesota rapper, singer and songwriter, Jacob “Jake” Anderson, better known as Prof, has been slowly working his way up the hip hop ladder of success, since 2000. Starting his career entertaining town drunks in small bars throughout Minnesota, with his partner and hype man Rahzwell, he used this platform to meet manager Mike Campbell. For the next 10-years, Prof, used the time to develop and perfect his”comedic, dirty-mouthed rap persona” that he has become famous for. In 2012, The staff of City Pages, and online publication and source of information for news, music, movies, restaurants, reviews, and events in Minneapolis, named Prof as Minnesota’s 19th-best rapper and raved about his singing voice.
As part of Rhymesayers Entertainment, In May of 2015, Prof announced a debut album “Liability”, that is planned to be released on October 16th. As comical as he present himself, his lyrics are crazy but at the same time clever. Taken from the Rhymesayers website, the description of Prof’s upcoming “Liability” is as follows:
On Liability, Prof describes our world; a place where a harsh environment and poor circumstances can make someone abandon their expectations and change their moral compass. The album takes the listener on a journey of incredible range, and ultimately calls attention to the often unseen conditions that lead individuals down the regrettable paths of being fighters, drunks, drug addicts– or simply put, liabilities. With impressive guest appearances from Tech N9ne, Waka Flocka Flame and Petey Pablo, and a list of production credits that includes Ant (Atmosphere), Aesop Rock, Big Chocolate, Mux Mool, Curtiss King and more, this album is without a doubt Prof’s greatest work to date.
With a description like that, one can only expect great things. To hear more from Prof you can check him here.
