The the hit American drama Power, created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and produced by the rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, has for the last two years been the minds of hip hop and tv fans alike, as it has amassed a following that has already gained it a third season, in a medium and genre that is quick to discard shows on the slightest reduction of ratings.
The gritty somewhat organized crime based drama, has not only been increasing in popularity and success with each show, it has also helped to solidify 50 cent as more than just a rapper and sometimes actor. However with all great success, comes a little bit of heartache. For the 50 cent, the heartache surrounding the success of “Power”, is the recent lawsuit filed by Larry Johnson, a writer who claims that there are several similarities between his “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid” manuscript and “Power.”
In other words, he believes that 50 cent copied his manuscript he shared with Nikki Turner in 2005, who works for 50 at G-Unit Books, and as a result, he is owed $200 million. Johnson went on further to claim, That in his book, the primary character has a goatee … ditto “Ghost” in “Power.” In fact, Johnson says he even uses the nickname “Ghost” as his pen name.”
50 cent is not one to shy away from a lawsuit, but if he loses this one, he will definitely go broke. We will all just have to wait and see how this one ends up.
